Photographer and Videographer
This is an experimental/documentary video about the passing of an era in Roanoke, VA. Roanoke City Mills was identified as “The South’s Largest and Finest and Flour Mill”. In 2001, the mill was targeted for demolition: “...in the way of a proposed biomedical and technology park ...” (The Roanoke Times). As the videographer, I am viewing the exterior of the building as a functional aesthetic statement that represented a past and prosperous industry in the past. The relevance of the video is applicable to many communities today. In the present, the loss of the past to the future.
