Norther National Art Competition

The 30th Annual Northern National Art Competition at Nicolet College, Rhinelander, Wisconsin, selected Mitchell Spencer’s photograph “Winter Sky” to be included in this years exhibit. Mitchell is a local photographer and videographer that has had local and regional exhibits. Over four hundred nation wide entries from twenty-two states were submitted and only ninety were selected. The exhibit is a variety of two-dimensional contemporary art. The juried exhibit is co-sponsored by the Nicolet College Art Gallery and the Northern Arts Council. The judge for this year’s competition was Gary Freeburg, professor of art and director of Sawhill Gallery at James Madison University in Virginia. He has worked with Ansel Adams, Oliver Gaglinani, and John Schultz and has a M.F.A degree from the University of Iowa.
